Paradox. [par-uh-doks] Noun.

1. A statement or proposition that seems self-contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth.
2. Any person, thing, or situation exhibiting an apparently contradictory nature.
3. How we like it.

We’re Shai Azul – a Pacific Northwest based recording ensemble. The project is the brainchild of anoN; an established multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer (you could easily find out his real identity; it’s no deep secret). There’s about a dozen of us in the group who contribute at varying levels. We’ve been around since late 2008.

We make music. The main project is Shai Azul itself – an industrial/metal/electronic/pop band with male and female lead vocals. We’re currently working on our third compilation, with an anticipated release date mid-2015.

We write other music as well. Redshift Heretic is the name of our first major side project. We call the music ‘experimental dance pop’. It features our blend of guitars and synthesizers, with more of an EDM vibe and varied vocal/lyrical stylings. We’ve got other projects in the works, too…some of them aren’t even music related. We’ll put them up here when they’re ready.

It’s not a traditional way to do a band. And our sound is a departure from what’s currently popular. But hey. We’re having fun and we love what we do.
